April Omoto, OD

Dr. April is a Sacramento native. She received her B.S. and Doctor of Optometry degrees from U.C. Berkeley. She is licensed to the fullest extent of the law, including the ability to prescribe diagnostic and therapeutic pharmaceutical agents. She is certified at several laser centers and has been certified by Pacific College of Optometry for pre and post Laser patient care. She has had the LASIK procedure done on her own eyes and can answer most of your questions from experience. Dr. April has been in practice with her husband, Dr. Steve, since 1978. She has had experience in teaching Optometry in Japan and also as a lecturer for U.C.B. School of Optometry and the California Optometric Association. As a result of Dr. April teaching Optometry in Japan, she is bi-lingual in English and Japanese. In addition to private practice, Dr. April served as Consultant to Vision Service Plan for 20 years, Associate Optometry Director for VSP’s corporate Utilization Management, Quality Assurance and Credentialling Committee for three years, and has served on the VSP Board Committees. She is currently a member of VSP’s Pacific Southern Care Committee (since 1992) and is the Chairperson of VSP’s Managed Care Committee, Northern California (since 1995). Dr. April is involved in VSP’s Sight for Students program and has acted as a spokesperson for this worthy program. Dr. April’s non-VSP activities include serving as a Vision Source co-Administrator, a Consultant to the California State Board of Optometry, volunteering for vision screenings; activities associated with school, church, charities, and the usual “Mom” activities.
